Powerscourt House and Gardens
Powerscourt Explore one of Ireland’s most famous house and gardens on an afternoon visit to the Powerscourt Estate in County Wicklow. The Palladian mansion stands overlooking the picturesque gardens which blend into the surrounding countryside known as “The Garden of Ireland”. Take a tour of the house and view its many treasures while also allowing time to marvel at the workmanship of its finely nurtured gardens, including the Walled Garden, Italian Gardens and Japanese Garden, and Italianate terraces and features.
Even the avenue leading to the Palladian house echoes the magnificence of the whole estate, being a mile long and lined by over 2,000 beech trees.
In addition the 47 acres of gardens are remarkable for their grandeur of scale, at the same time combining great delicacy and refinement of detail.
The house was gutted by fire in 1974 but recently has been reborn as an exceptional tourist destination.
The house is now home to the best of Irish design in gifts, clothes, and furniture in the Avoca Stores and the Interiors Gallery.
You can also treat yourself to a dish from the Avoca Cookbook in the Terrace Cafe.

Boyne Valley / Newgrange

Take an afternoon drive through the historic Boyne Valley - a listed world heritage site. Discover the many famous landmarks as far back as the Neolithic Period which are dotted across this beautiful landscape. A visit to the Brú na Bóinne visitor centre and ancient Newgrange Tomb is included.
Newgrange, a magnificent example of prehistoric craftsmanship, was constructed over 5,000 years ago (about 3,200 B.C.), making it older than Stonehenge in England and the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. Newgrange was built during the Neolithic or New Stone Age by a farming community that prospered on the rich lands of the Boyne Valley.
